Oh my goodness! You turned me into a newt!

I ran across the rocks, hid beneath the ferns, sipped droplets of morning dew, and stood in awe before my favorite waterfall!

Dear Gaia and Maria,

Yes, it is possible to slip into the being of a newt—or even into the spirit of a spring breeze.

My first truly life-changing encounter with this idea was Ray Bradbury's beautiful short story The April Witch. The other piece of writing that moved me with the same extraordinary power is yours, Maria.

If you haven't read The April Witch yet, you can find it here: https://thephilosopher.net/bredberi/wp-content/uploads/sites/429/2025/03/The-April-Witch-Ray-Bradbury.pdf

I will check this out right away!! And yes I truly believe u inhabit the consciousness of many things around us. I felt it during a psychedelic experience for me however.

Official name is eastern newt, or red eft in juvenile stage. They do have spots - see the cover picture
